It's all been done before.

The Big House, Boone Hall Plantation, Mt. Pleasant, SC  -  2013

What has been done is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.
Is there a thing of which it is said,
    "See, this is new"?
It has been already
in the ages before us. (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10)

If I didn't know better, I'd swear Solomon was a travel photographer.

When visiting a site that has been photographed millions of times by untold thousands of photographers, it's hard to come up with anything original. How many times do you think this house has been photographed since it was built? I'm sure it's been explored from every angle, in every kind of light, in every season of the year. So how do you come home with something original?

Maybe you can't, but I wanted something at least a little different than just a postcard shot. In the digital darkroom I experimented with overlayed textures, tinting, and vignettes. I finally came up with this version - a standard post card view with, hopefully, just a bit more personality. Even this approach has no doubt been done before. It's hard to argue with Solomon.
